自信Confidence v.s. 地震Earthquake

At first, this may puzzle you.  How can you compare a human characteristic with a force of mother nature?
I believe they are one and the same.
Usually to make a big breakthrough in life you need to have the confidence to pursue the path that awaits ahead.   Similarly, an earthquake can open up new ground and make you see the world in a different view, literally.

Now I bring this up mainly as it applies to language learning and in particular, learning Japanese.  It takes a lot of confidence to learn the language and sometimes you need to be moved just like an earthquake would cause you to do.

Interestingly enough, in Japanese the two words, confidence and earthquake, are the same word, jishin. Perhaps the Japanese language already know that in order to get anything done you need to have the confidence and force of will and a mind as strong as an earthquake.
