Beijing

Visited Beijing for 6 days on the way back to Tokyo during March 15-21, 2009.

I love Beijing!

Some first impressions of Beijing:
Very modern train system like Tokyo
Very clean
Wide, very wide streets for both cars and wide bicycle lanes
Greasy food
Nice people
Cheap fake brand stuff
Cold(er than India)
Chinese pronounciation is really really tough to get right.

After walking around for 2 hours looking for our guesthouse, 9 dragons, we finally found it and settled in to the lovely guesthouse.  The staff at 9 dragons are very friendly, and the lounge/restaurant is very neatly decorated and its very comfortable there.
We bargained four our room and ended up paying 100 Yuan per night.  Good deal considering they were charging 150 Yuan to start.

I would definitely recommend travel to Beijing for anyone.  If you have a smile and some courage, you can talk to the locals, and learn a few Chinese words quickly.  The chinese were always eager to help us out.
