Weihnachten – Christmas in Halle, Germany

Weihnachten, or Christmas in Germany is something special and a little bit different from Japan (very  commercial and time spent with your significant other) or Canada (holidays spent with the family and exchanging of gifts on Christmas morning).

Weihnachten in Germany is a family time, where gifts are exchanged on the evening after dinner on December 24th. There is HUGE Weinachten (christmas) Markt (market, oooh, that was hard to figure out) in the Marktplatz (can you guess what that is?) that was set up over the weekend and will be opening soon.  Glühwein (Mulled Wine) will be available and huts with different food and souvenirs will be enjoyed by all the Hallenser.

Here is a pic from a trip to Paris,France in March, 2010.  Drawn by my friend Kosmos Oliver.

On the left is Rembrant and on the right, Kosmos Oliver. Wow.
